Program Info
for WORLD V2.x
System requirements:Graphics board (CGA/EGA) and lots of memory.
This program was written in BASICA and compiled Microsoft QUICK Basic
ver 3.00 under DOS 3.3 as an exercise in what can be done with BASIC.
The graphics have been refined and other improvements are by Michel Baron.
It was written on a ARC 286 with 40meg hard disk, 1meg memory, and
EGA. It has been tested on a Columbia MPC-IV and an AMIGA with Bridge-
Card.
I guarantee nothing!! This project was started many months ago to see
what could be done in BASIC (the only language I know much about). I soon
found that basic is just too slow to handle the data required.
Out of the hundreds of people who have downloaded the program around
the world a few have provided financial encouragement
and suggestions which are implemented in version 2.x. The only thing
I haven't done is provided the program without my database.( I worked too
hard to have that cut out). Most of the Database is avialble on COMPUSERVE
as my file WORLDDB.ARC in DL 10 of the IBMSW sig.
The list of capitals is as accurate as I can get from a standard atlas.
Some minor errors have been generated by eyeball interpolation and
weariness. I feel no obligation to make corrections or additions. If
you don't like something don't send money or stew about it, send me
a letter of complaint!! I may or may not fix it (depends upon how I
feel ! I probably won't even respond !)
If I feel good and get some complaints I can handle I may put an update
on COMPUSERVE at some time in the future.
To start a new year's 'traks' simply rename traks to traksyy where yy
is the year.

I would like to thank those who did send comments (and especially those
who sent money) based on WORLD. Many of the changes are a result of
suggestions from users. Some suggestions (such as adding color) were not
practical for the majority of IBM computers. My Data Base is too crude.
No the Data points were not generated by THE FORCE I strained my eyeballs
to create it. It is available as a separate file and not available for
commercial use.
